Functions and Members

Continuing Professional Development Committee

The Continuing Professional Development Committee (“CPDC”) is set up under section 5AC of the Dentists Registration Ordinance. According to section 5L of the Ordinance, the CPDC may perform the following functions –

  1. to make recommendations to the Dental Council on the policies regarding continuing professional development activities; and
  2. to make recommendations to the Dental Council on the requirement regarding continuing professional development that a person must comply with for the purposes of section 11A(2A) or 15H(3) of the Ordinance.

Composition

According to section 5K of the Dentists Registration Ordinance, the CPDC shall consist of the following members appointed by the Dental Council –

  1. 3 members of the Dental Council (one of them shall be the chairperson);
  2. 1 registered dentist, who is a full-time member of the teaching staff of the Faculty of Dentistry of the University of Hong Kong, nominated by the University of Hong Kong;
  3. 1 registered specialist dentist nominated by the Council of the Academy of Medicine;
  4. 1 registered dentist, who is a public officer, nominated by the Director of Health; and
  5. 1 registered dentist nominated by the Council of the Hong Kong Dental Association.
